BALI ADVENTURES

Before publishing this post and getting too deep into every integral detail, I managed to write and re-write it about 6 times over. Eventually splitting up my adventure into 3 different posts. Putting 10 days worth of blissful adventuring through the organised chaotic tropics of Bali into a reasonable amount of structured and captivating paragraphs seemed impossible to actually do.

 

My word document started with almost five pages of exciting adventures, well in my head at least they sounded thrilling and captivating, eventually finding its way down to just one. Although five pages does seem awesome and an accomplishment, I highly doubt you guys would feel the same way; you’d probably close this tab after the first 1000 words.

 

Bali would have to be the last place I thought I’d ever find myself wandering, considering I’m a hater of rice, gluten and curries, some would say I was daft to even venture there considering the traditional food is Indonesian. And what do Indonesians love? Rice, gluten, and curries. Now when I say love, I really mean it! They go crazy for that stuff. Coincidently so does my boyfriend; at least one of us was jumping for food joy.

 

Now every Australian knows that Bali is like our brother from another mother or sister from another Mr, whatever-you get the point. The point I’m attempting to make is that the locals of Bali are some of the friendlies, nicest and comforting people. They’d gone out of their way to not only have fabulous Indonesian food, they also scored top points on mastering the Western world's food as well, some parts of Bali better than others.

 

Now that the food part is out of the way and we can all agree that Bali does amazing food - Indonesian (if you’re into that) and Western - we can happily get onto more important matters; like the cocktails, boy do they deliver a rockin, super bad ass cocktail. Nuff said.

 

First stop, the exquisite Ayana Resort – I grabbed this idea from one of my all time favourite bloggers; Tuula Vintage. Her flawless photos displaying the very best in resort living almost had me running to the computer to book a room. On arriving to Ayana we were greeted by two extremely overly smiley men with two frangipani necklaces and a sweet but refreshing cold drink. I’m presuming it was my first glimpse of paradise on arrival that got me in the right mind frame after flying – if everyone’s not already aware I get serve cabin fever on planes, I literally lose my mind.

 

Meanwhile, as usual, I was not dressed for the weather – rather the airconditioning. South-east Asia is notorious for its stupidly humid temperatures outside and arctic cafes, shopping malls and Villas, so in that sense, I will excuse myself for opening up every window and door and quickly letting in a whole colony of mosquitoes, 2 families of flies and a few grass hoppers to make a new home within our room.

 

6am rolled around the next day and I was bouncing from bed to the shower to breakfast, being 3 hours behind local time really lets you fit an enormous amount into each day without lagging till around 10pm. Now when I say enormous I actually mean; 6 cocktails, 2 food orders and the most breathtaking daybed overlooking one of the resort's finest private beaches while having a beach view infinity pool to dip my toes in.

 

In total there were six uniquely designed pools that made the cut, and boy were they incredible. Excuse me Sydney but why have we not caught onto this pool culture, I feel like Sydney could make some serious bang for their buck investing in this trend. But then again no one could do a pool quite like Ayana…
