BRONZED BODIES, BALMY NIGHTS

There's nothing better than the smell of the ocean, tanned bodies, melting Messina, salty hair and sandy bums. An Australian summer..

There are few lazy activities that I can do without becoming fidgety and agitated. Thankfully laying on the beach and listening to the sound of the waves lightly brushing up on the sand is definitely one of the few. Who doesn't love a sandy Australian summer? Usually I'm immersed with work, uni, or I'm not in the right state to properly appreciate what an Aussie summer has to offer. This year, fortunately for me, I had two weeks to play and turn into my inner beach bum. My summer survival guide consisted of loads of ciders, numerous bustling beaches, coconut oil, almost every style from the Triangl Swim range and more sunscreen than your average.

Not only does Australia boast some of the best beaches in the world they also come jam-packed with outdoor ocean pools, seaside boathouse cafes and portable ice-cream trucks. Yep, you can literally get delivery ice-cream now - game changer. The long awaited November-to-February in Sydney manages to channel everyone’s inner 80's; a little too much sun, even more sunscreen, overdone beachy hair, oversaturated blue hues - I blame this on the Tash Oakley obsession, fresh sunflowers, long romantic warm days, balmy nights sharing stories of the last summer over far too many ciders and BBq'ed food, smoothies, iced teas and coffees, mangoes, raspberries, the occasional chocolate dipped bananas, burnt feet, burnt skin, frazzled hair, rolling out of salty white sheets to start all over again, weekends spent finding new hideouts, packing picnics for the road trip ahead and spending the week days wishing it was the weekend.

Welcome to the great Australian summer.
